Faculty of Dentistry

The Faculty of Dentistry offers Postgraduate Degree programmes in Dental Sciences:

 

Eight Masters Degree programmes in Dental Sciences:

  1. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Orthodontics (120 credit hours).
  2. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Oral Biology (120 credit hours).
  3. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery (120 credit hours).
  4. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Prosthodontics (120 credit hours).
  5. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of  Endodontics (52 credit hours).
  6. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Operative Dentistry (52 credit hours).
  7. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of  Oral Medicine, Periodontology and Oral Diagnosis (52 credit hours).
  8. Master Degree In Dental  Sciences in the Specialty of Pediatric Dentistry (52 credit hours).

The Mission of Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Dentistry at the British University in Egypt is to achieve interdisciplinary research, learning opportunities and approaches by implementing a nourishing environment that stimulates the production of employable capable graduates with goals aligned with national and international standards.

 

Masters Degree programmes in Dental Sciences:

 

 

Programme Overview:

- Master's Degree Programmes in Dental Sciences are credit hours system programmes.

- Education in these offered programmes is a skill and experience building with a student-centred and self-learning approach supported by the use of course guides, in addition to highly equipped research labs.

- The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education approves our programmes. 

 

Programme Duration:

The duration of each programme is from a minimum of three calendar years up to a maximum of six years. This period includes obligatory courses, elective courses, and thesis components.
The candidate must achieve at least an attendance of 75% in every course and satisfy any practical or clinical requirements.
The candidate must achieve a CGPA of 2.0 or more for the following items:

- Thesis proposal submission after the second semester.

- Thesis defense.

- Graduation from the programme.

 

The candidate must complete an adequate number and variety of acceptable fully documented and treated cases literature reviews, seminars, and comprehensive case studies. These requirements should be scheduled and approved by the course director, and head of the department and certified by the head of the graduate studies at the time of registering for the course and handed to the candidate.

The candidates have to complete the requirements before being allowed to enter the examination of every course.

Thesis dissertation research work equivalent to Twelve (12) credit hours are to be registered along semesters including summer semesters if required. The distribution of the thesis credit hours work should be approved by supervisors of the thesis.

 

Credit hours distribution:

The total credit hours of each programme of the Master Degree in Dental Sciences is (120) credit hours.

The total credit hours of each programme of the Master Degree in Dental Sciences is (52) credit hours.

 

 Eligibility Criteria For Candidacy:

 

• Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry from an Egyptian University or an equivalent accredited by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.

• Applicants must have ended their internship year and hold a valid license of practice of profession or its equivalent.

• Achieve a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.3 or its equivalent.

• Achieve a GPA of not less than 2.3 or its equivalent in the required specialty.

 

Applicants are required to pass an assessment as per department of specialty and approved by Faculty council.

Assessment may be in the form of a personal interview, practical evaluation, written assignment as per department of specialty. Candidates are considered eligible for the programme according to cumulative percentage of the items assessed and programme availability.


IMPORTANT NOTES FOR ALL PROGRAMMES:


- Any candidate enrolled in any of the offered programmes of the Faculty of Dentistry who was sent 3 warning emails and is absent for two full semesters without any excuse other than those mentioned in the by-laws will be subject to DISMISSAL from the program after Faculty Council approval.

- Thesis dissertation research work equivalent to Twelve (12) credit hours are to be registered along semesters including summer semesters if required. The distribution of the thesis credit hours work should be approved by supervisors of the thesis.

- Any candidate who fails to pass a core module on the second attempt shall be DISMISSED from the programme.

• Certificate (Original)

• Accreditation from the Supreme Council of Universities for Graduates of Academies and Higher Institutes offering BSc. degrees (N/A for Universities’ Graduates).

• Transcript (Original).

• Birth certificate (Original).

• A copy of the National ID (for Egyptians) or Passport (for non-Egyptians).

• 4 Personal photos (4X6).

• Certificate of military service (Original) (for Egyptian males).

• Certificate of ending the internship year(Original).

• A valid license of practice of the profession or its equivalent(copy).

• Receiving a notification of acceptance.

• TOEFL or IELTS before starting the programme.

- Unless all mentioned steps are done your application is incomplete and you are not eligible to attend any lectures.
