Lab Assistant- Faculty of Nursing
Job Purpose
Nursing Lab Assistant supports nursing students to achieve clinical learning in a simulated patient care environment. With improving their knowledge of nursing skills through the implementation of the nursing process, clinical assessment procedures, and care of patients across the spectrum of nursing in the simulation and skills lab.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure that all available equipment and supplies are properly functioning; responsible for renewals and warranties for all equipment; perform routine equipment repair.
- Assist with and set up all skills labs, practice sessions, and on-campus labs offered in all nursing courses.
- Responsible for maintaining optimum conditions of the laboratories materials, and supplies.
- Oversee the functioning and scheduling of all Basic Nursing Skills Labs.
- Distribute study aids, handouts, tests, and related instructional materials.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Provide laboratory instructions for use of equipment and nursing practice and procedure.
- Help organise and maintain a clean and safe laboratory and storeroom environments (floors, counter tops, sinks, shelving, equipment, washes and stores linens, and other materials.
- Undertake various duties as assigned by line manager.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor Nursing degree.
Experience
- 2+ experience in a Nursing Skills Laboratory.
Technical Skills
- Skilled English reading, writing & speaking skills.
- Microsoft Office applications
- Internet Tools and various browsers.
- Excellent communication skills.
