Integrated Newsroom Coordinator- Faculty of Communication and Mass Media
Job Purpose
The Integrated Newsroom Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations and technical needs of the newsroom. This role ensures the seamless coordination of content production workflows and supervises the use of the resources to support academic and student-led media initiatives.
The position supports faculty, staff and students in producing high-quality, multi-platform media content while ensuring operational efficiency, equipment readiness, and timely delivery of editorial materials.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily function of the integrated newsroom, ensuring all equipment and systems are fully operational.
- Maintain and monitor an accurate inventory of all technical and media production equipment in collaboration with the responsible team.
- Collaborate with IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues affecting newsroom production.
- Facilitate and monitor the production workflow of content (e.g., articles, photos, videos) to ensure timely publication.
- Provide logistical support for newsroom events, student projects, and live broadcasts.
- Support editors and instructors in managing media databases and online publishing tools.
- Maintain records of content production schedules, editorial calendars, and usage of technical resources.
- Support the planning of faculty events such as student exhibitions, conferences, or competitions.
- Assist in preparing technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the newsroom.
- Provide training and guidance for students on using newsroom equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with academic staff to ensure students’ practical needs are aligned with curriculum delivery.
- Participate in relevant departmental and university-wide meetings.
- Contribute to quality assurance, annual planning, and reporting activities.
- Support marketing and recruitment activities involving media coverage and student engagement.
- Undertake various duties assigned by the Dean or Head of Department.

- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Media Production, or a related field.
Experience:
Desired:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a newsroom, digital media lab, or academic media setting.
- Prior experience with newsroom software (e.g., Octopus, ENPS, or similar CMS tools) is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with media editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Photoshop) and content management systems.
