Immersive Media Technology - Faculty of Communication & Mass Media
Job Purpose
Immersive Media Technology Specialist role is responsible to create and innovate cutting-edge immersive media experiences using technologies such as but not limited to virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and 360-degree video. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing immersive content, troubleshooting technical challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver engaging and interactive digital solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and create VR, AR, MR, and 360-degree video experiences using industry-standard tools and platforms.
- Build, test, and deploy immersive applications, ensuring compatibility across devices and platforms.
- Work closely with designers, developers, and project managers to integrate immersive media into projects.
- Identify and resolve technical issues to enhance performance, usability, and user experience.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and trends in immersive media.
- Ensure immersive experiences are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with project goals.
- Conduct rigorous testing to guarantee functionality, performance, and compliance with standards.
- Provide guidance and training to team members or clients on immersive technology usage.
- Research for updates with industry trends, optimize user experiences, and ensure seamless integration of immersive technologies into projects
- Maintain clear documentation for workflows, technical specifications, and best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, Arts & Design, or any related field.
Experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in developing immersive media projects.
- Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3ds Max).
- Familiarity with immersive hardware (e.g., Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Microsoft HoloLens).
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in VR/AR development tools (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, ARKit, ARCore).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with educators, developers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
