AI Specialist – Faculty of Communication & Mass Media

Job Purpose

AI Specialist in Media Education role is to drive the integration of artificial intelligence into media education by developing AI-powered tools, curricula, and innovative learning solutions. This role involves designing AI applications for media production, analysis, and interactive storytelling, while collaborating with educators, technologists, and industry partners.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Design, build, and deploy AI-powered platforms and applications to enhance media education, such as automated content creation, intelligent tutoring systems, and media analysis tools.
  2. Collaborate with staff to embed AI into coursework, assessments, and interactive learning experiences, ensuring alignment with pedagogical goals.
  3. Create training materials and workshops to upskill educators and students in using AI tools for media production, analysis, and storytelling.
  4. Explore emerging AI trends in media and education, pilot new technologies, and assess their impact on teaching and learning.
  5. Work with educators, IT staff, and industry partners to align AI initiatives with institutional objectives and industry standards.
  6. Troubleshoot technical issues, optimize performance, and ensure AI tools are accessible, scalable, and user-friendly.
  7. Explore emerging AI trends, enhance educational experiences through automation and personalisation, and empower students and faculty with cutting-edge AI skills.
  8. Undertake additional duties as assigned by the line manager.

 

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Media Technology, Educational Technology, or any related field.

 

Experience

- 2+ years of hands-on experience in AI development, educational technology, or media innovation.

- Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++).

- Knowledge of media production tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Unity, or Unreal Engine for interactive media).

- Familiarity with Natural Language Processing (NLP), computer vision, or generative AI for media applications.

 

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with educators, developers, and stakeholders.

- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
